Important Information for State of California

Many operators of food facilities in California have ServSafe certificates indicating a five year expiration date.  However, California Law has not changed.  We still require re-certification each 3 years for all examinations that are approved, including ServSafe.  I have informed local environmental health agencies that the ServSafe expiration date is based on CFP standards, but California Law is more stringent and supersedes the standard at this time.  Any future changes to the re-certification process in California will apply to all accredited examinations, and not just one.  I would be happy to discuss with anyone who has been told otherwise.

Best of Luck to you.
